Classically Trained What?

Classically trained bastard? It’s true. Years (relatively speaking) of study in canonical literature, theology, and a little philosophy, plus classical piano and even a tiny bit of classical guitar. Yet I can’t quote poetry or debate philosophical schools, and my history of Church doctrine and division is not what it could be (Sorry, Mum. Sorry, Poppa).

Still, it has shaped my thinking (and therefore my writing). I still read voraciously (mostly speculative fiction). Still love to debate (Sorry, dear Wife), and play games of strategy. Except chess. I mean, I like chess, I’m just not terribly good at it. See the trend? More importantly though, I aim to raise well-read, intelligent children (as well as being courageous, compassionate, and true).

Here I’ll post about a range of things (it is my personal blog, after all), but generally book reviews, comments on parenthood, and thoughts about civilization in general.
